Back to food porn Melisse and Giorgio Baldi
So I've been backed up with my food posts, but fret not, I've been my regular glutenous self. I just haven't had the time to write about it.Giorgio BaldiWhat I wore...
Hello? Could this be one of my new faves? I can't be sure yet since I've only been there once so far, but Giorgio Baldi has some of the best damned pasta I've ever sucked past my big old fish lips. Someone recommended I try it and I finally tried it out a few weeks ago. Boy was I ever missing out. It's located in Santa Monica off the PCH. The service to me was charming in a cocky way. Gotta love those sassy LA style waiters. This guy was quick and funny. I liked that he reminded me of a waiter from the Palms or Dan Tana's. Sassy, but still friendly and proud of his joint. -snaps fingers-We hadSteamed clams
Sweet corn ravioli with fontina cheese and truffle oil.
Pumpkin Ravioli with fresh basil.
^My favorite. Sweet and al dente. So fresh, delicious, and buttery. This was so good. I couldn't believe how much I loved it!I also had the steak.
^I was a bit disappointed that I didn't get another yummy pasta dish. The steak was good, but nothing compared to the pasta. At least I know what to order next time. The house wine was crap, but that's what I get for ordering the house wine. I also had an order of the rose champagne that came in a cute little bottle which was nice. I'll definitely be back. I've been craving those pastas since I've been there. ugh and I'm about to have a grand slam from denny's. Not so nice, but it's 3am. It'll do I guess. Gotta nourish the booty...Melisse - A much deserved second chance. What I wore ...(This was back in February)
^Dress-Free people, boots-steve madden, belt-?I did a review on Melisse a while back and I have to say, Melisse is much better than it was the first time I went. Last time I was clowning on how the decor reminded me of the dorm room of a poor female during her first year of college. Well, since the last time I did the review, they redid the place. It's more elegant and put together. I was pleasantly surprised. I also thought the food wasn't up to par with my fine dining standard....Well, I have to say Melisse went from a C- to an A+. I couldn't believe how great the food was. It was like night and day. I was super disappointed with Melisse the first time. Now, a year later, I'm glad I gave her a second chance. The food was excellent, service was awesome, ambiance was nice. I love the place now. I will definitely be back. =)Muse
Its been so long, I forgot what it was composed of, but I do remember that it was fucking awesome.Truffle eggMelting organic egg, shaved black truffles, truffle sauce$55 Supplement when substituted on tasting menu
This was amazing. I loved the flavors. I loved the wonderfully earthy and verdant truffle atop the yummy gooey egg. So exquisite.Maine Lobster "Thermidor," Creamy Spinach, Lobster-Mustard Sabayon$5 supplement when substituted on tasting menu
I loved this. It was the perfect lobster thermidor. My mouth waters just thinking about it.True Japanese Wagyu Beef "Kobe" Filet Mignon 5 ouncesPotato Leek Torte, Wild Mushrooms, Braised Boston Lettuce, Herb Jus$90 supplement when substituted on tasting menu
The meat was like butter and the whole dish was very flavorful. I savored every bite.Cheese display...a nice variety.
Our cheese selection. I fucking love some good ass, smelly ass cheese. I'm a refined young lady.Passion Fruit Parfait, Coconut Sorbet, Pistachios and Lemongrass.
This reminded me of the perfect tropical dessert. I loved how the flavors melded together. Sweet, tart, nutty, and verdant...so yummy.Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate...need I say more?
More goodies...
I had this tasting with a wine pairing which was outstanding. As you can see, it's still expensive, but the quality skyrocketed. I can't believe my date and I went from joking about how we had to, "travel thousands of miles to get a decent meal" the first time we went to Melisse, to absolutely loving it the second time. I guess it's good to give places a second chance...hehe maybe they read my original review and decided to shape up. haha. (right) =POh and I went to the Ivy again a few weeks ago. I won't write another review about it. Good as always. The lobster ravioli is the way to go, man. Here's what I wore though...
Guess that's all. xoxo
